Audiology is the branch of science that studies hearing, balance and related disorders. Audiologists are highly trained doctors who have specialized in the prevention, identification, management and nonmedical treatment of disorders of the auditory and vestibular system, including hearing loss and tinnitus (noise or ringing in the ears).
Dr. Mary Burton, Au.D., FAAA, CCC-A, Licensed Clinical Audiologist, and Pasadena ENT & Allergy / Audiology offer comprehensive evaluations and management of various degrees of hearing loss in children, adolescents and adults.
Our services include:
The results of your hearing test will determine the severity, type and configuration of your hearing loss.
For most individuals suffering from hearing loss, the most beneficial treatment option is hearing aids. During a hearing aid evaluation appointment, Dr. Burton will perform a comprehensive hearing exam and ask questions about your lifestyle to determine your specific hearing needs in order to recommend the best hearing device(s) for you. Dr. Burton will properly fit your hearing aid(s), provide follow-up care, recommend hearing aid accessories and provide any necessary training for you and your family members.
Pasadena ENT’s Hearing Care Center offers all styles of hearing aids, including daily wear custom In-The-Ear (ITEs) and Behind-The-Ear (BTE) styles, from the top hearing aid manufacturers to include Starkey, Siemens, Oticon, Phonak, and Widex. We also offer an extended wear hearing aid, the Phonak Lyric. These devices, which are programmed for YOUR individual hearing loss, are designed in a number of technology levels with various features in order to fit your individual lifestyle. Hearing aid features may include:
All hearing aids are digital and have a 30-day evaluation period, providing enough time for you to ensure the device fits your lifestyle needs.
For many people who experience draining ears or chronic ear infections, blockage, damage or malformations in the outer or middle ear, or loss of all hearing in one ear, even the most advanced and powerful hearing aids may not help. Our surgical and audiological team have two solutions to help you hear better without the use of traditional hearing aids -- a state-of-the-art Implantable Hearing System, the Cochlear Baha (Bone-Anchored-Hearing-Aid) and a non-surgical dental device, the Sonitus Medical SoundBite.
